Meet Besa Martin

Besa “Besa” Martin is a West Texas native and lifelong conservative who brings real-world experience in law, ranching, banking, and community service to her candidacy for Kendall County Judge. Raised in Marfa, she earned both her B.S. in Agricultural Economics and a master’s in Land Economics & Real Estate from Texas A&M University, giving her a deep understanding of how county decisions affect property owners, small businesses, and working families. Early in her career, she helped lead her family’s Presidio County ranch to become the first private wind turbine farm in Texas, balancing innovation, land stewardship, and long-term planning.

After earning her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she was a published author and received the Outstanding Research and Writing Award, Besa built a Boerne-based law practice, ER Martin LLC. For more than two decades, she has advised clients on real estate, oil and gas, water, development, business negotiation, and estate planning—exactly the kinds of issues that come before a county judge and Commissioners Court. She also serves on the board of First Sonora Bancshares/First Sonora Bank and on the Texas Real Estate Research Center Advisory Committee at Texas A&M, where she holds a leadership role, giving her firsthand experience with budgets, growth management, and responsible financial oversight.

Besa’s commitment to service runs deep in Kendall County and across Texas. She has helped guide key community projects through roles on the Patrick Heath Public Library’s Capital Campaign and Strategic Planning Committees and on the Kendall County Appraisal District Board. She has led youth programs through the historic Bloys Camp Meeting Association, supported school-based mediation and civics initiatives, and contributed training materials for the Women’s Democracy Network to equip women for leadership. In 2018, she was inducted into the Tyrus R. Timm Honor Registry at Texas A&M University in recognition of her professional achievements and service.

Besa and her husband, Roy, have five daughters and support endowed scholarships at Texas A&M, reflecting their shared belief in faith, hard work, education, and giving back. As Kendall County Judge, Besa will bring the same steady judgment, practical experience, and servant’s heart that have defined her life’s work.
